HOW THOSE “CREDIT REPAIR” GUYS DO YOU

These companies make their money off of the fact that the credit bureaus process credit changes very, very slowly over time. So most “credit repair” companies charge you monthly. And if they charge you monthly, of course it’s going to take a long time. That’s how they make their money! Credit repair companies take what you give them and they send letters to the credit bureaus for all of a person’s targeted accounts every month. See, under the law, the bureaus must re-verify the accuracy of any disputed or consumer-notified changes on accounts within 30 days or it’s automatically deleted. That’s the game. They try to overwhelm the system with letters so that once in a while, one makes it past the 30 day limit without being re-verified. But all the while they are charging you monthly. That’s hardly expertise and it certainly isn’t access to the three national credit bureaus.

We charge one, flat fee for every credit item that need to be either developed, improved, negotiated, removed or aged off. A credit item is considered one creditor’s numbered, account data line on a credit report. Unlike other credit assistance companies, at HomeStart - Regardless of how many credit bureaus the creditor reports to for that item, HomeStart still considers that just one item. If we charge for difficult settlement negotiations, we always negotiate away at least three times as much collection debt as we charge. So for every $1 we charge in a Negotiation Surcharge, you get $3. Even if the settlement negotiations are a nightmare, and we charge a surcharge - at the most the client only pays 1/3 of the amount of the balance reduction, not the original balance. And the client is always in control. If you don’t wish to (or can’t) pay the settlement - the surcharge is removed.
